I originally reported on fediverse observer that number don't match with fedidb (original issue if you want some background).
misskey.io reports exactly 3.07K from march 2025 to march 2026 which is statistically highly unlikely. same thing for nijimiss.moe.
misskey stopped reporting active users on nodeinfo a while ago and there is a open issue for re-enabling the reporting.
