FAQ: Size and Apk or PWA ?

Hi! What maximum size of file can be "paperized"? 1Mb, 10Mb or more?

Also, no plans for Apk or PWA to create\recreate rememory's for phones?

@iuvi7 hi! currently it's not possible to export the actual data itself to paper, only the key goes to paper. the manifest.age file is still necessary in order to decrypt the data. In the FAQ I have links to apps that allow exporting the data to QRs that can be retrieved from paper. That being said, it would be an interesting feature for ReMemory to have 👍

I haven't thought about PWA, I tried the app on my iPhone and it worked well. Is there something the app is missing to be a full fledged PWA? it already works offline, maybe a manifest needs to be added?

When i run recover.html on phone without internet it says "Could not access camera" but in allowance settings it is set up as "yes, but ask before use"

Maybe file lost between front and usual camera in code lol

thanks for the report! this helps narrow it down. could you share the details about which phone/browser/os you're using?

in 246e12e I added a polyfill so the camera can work on mobile, I suspect this may be the cause for it.

it should embed the wasm inline, but I suspect the root cause might be here.

thank you for the details! I don't have access to one of those devices for testing, I'll try again with my iPhone whenever I have time and try to confirm if this is isolated, trying to narrow down.

Let's collect all context we can in this issue trying to figure out what's happening. If your phone has away to see console output, that would be very useful.

Also, if you could, it'd be great to try recovering using PDF or README instead of QR, I imagine the problem is only with QR recovery?

ah! I wanted to point out, the camera functionality requires WASM. maybe it's disabled in brave? it's relying on https://github.com/undecaf/zbar-wasm

Problem appears not in browser or setting, but offline copy reconstruct.html somewhere (maybe it links to internet link there in code?). I cut off wi-fi\sim-internet and camera not accessed, if i do online same from your site camera welcomed

ok I will look into this and report back. the app is supposed to be entirely offline and self contained. on my computer, it works if i turn wifi off.
