error: pathspec '5a7738f' did not match any file(s) known to git

When I run "git checkout 5a7738f", it shows that it does not exist? What should I do to run the project correctly?

I see.
I tested this and had the same problem.
I guessed the reason could be that the commit hash (e.g., 5a7738f in your comment) of fairchem was somewhat updated (this might be because they have lots of updates).

To resolve this, you can use git checkout f83d150b5fcb940b814f25043fb00914945b8708 instead (update the commit hash), and the correpsonding version of code is here.

Let me update my docs as well.

I seemed to solve the problem by download directly from this repo "https://github.com/FAIR-Chem/fairchem/tree/5a7738f9aa80b1a9a7e0ca15e33938b4d2557edd" by clicking “DOWNLOAD ZIP” and that is probably the correct version.

Yeah. You can also manually download the code from the website (with somewhat outdated commit hash), and that should be correct.
