Bulk rating

Repost: Hey I love this app, but is it possible to add a bulk rating option?
I have used star-ratings for a long time, but I want to switch all my ratings over to this, so a bulk rating option would be very useful.

As mentioned before, I love the idea. It's high up on my priority list (just added it to the Tagify Roadmap).
Are you talking specifically about applying star ratings or energy ratings in bulk? Or both?

At the bottom of Tagify there's "Tagged Tracks" that keeps on expanding, so yes, I was just wondering if it could handle large numbers of tagged/rated tracks.

Yes! Your tagged tracks are stored in localStorage within Spotify, so the theoretical limit is when Spotify's localStorage is full (approximately 7.5MB). According to my calculations, this should support well over 5000 tagged tracks :)
This also shouldn't be a performance issue, since it doesn't automatically display all your tagged tracks (you have to scroll down to load all of them). So performance will only be affected if you have a TON of tagged tracks, and decide to scroll all the way down and view them all. In which case, you might notice Spotify slow down a bit - until you leave the page.
Does this make sense?

Sidenote: I highly recommend periodically exporting your tag data. If you have lots of tagged tracks, you will want to keep that information safe. If for whatever reason your tags are lost, you can import your tag data from the last time you exported it.

Wow! I've just tried it out, and what a gamechanger it is!
I think I have around 30.000 rated tracks through star-ratings at the moment, and now I have just tried with 2 playlists, adding up to 4000 rated songs now in tagify with 2100 of them rated in one go with no issues.
I don't know how it will go when I take the rest, but I'm optimistic, and think I've now found the new most important part of my listening habit, so thank you so much for this. If there's an issue with the rest I'll let you know, otherwise I think it works flawlessly. :D

Okay, an extra update, I've hit a mark where it says it saves, but nothing happens. 19.686 it stays at, maybe I was too fast for it to catch up, so I'll try again later, otherwise up until that point it worked flawlessly, even when I tried to bulk rate 8000 at a time, so it might seem like I went too fast for it. Right now when I try to rate a single song it says something went wrong and crashes, but bulk rating works, it just doesn't save anymore beyond this point, at least so far.

I might be the odd one out there with that many ratings, so many years you build up.
By restarting and re-installing I'm up to 25.614 now, and then it stopped working again. I think with a couple of days doing this, I think everything is transfered over and working, and then I should probably do a reset and then import that backup before adding new ones.
I think that's the way to go at it right now.. I'm already trying to clean storage as best I can a bit at the time, already removed every extension I didn't need, clearing cache as I go and so on.
I also found out that it works best without hardware acceleration, and now I'm just trying to see if a simple extension is making an impact or not, so I'm sure it will work in the end.
The worst part is when Spotify starts loading in chunks of 75 or 25, that makes it a bit harder to get further.
Thanks again, and I'll keep you updated if I find some more useful info, or I'll get through last parts of the playlists, I think it's around 10k more, and then I should be done.

New update! With 25.631 I think I hit the wall.
No more localstorage to free up (only a small amount where it can save maybe a song or 5 at a time), so I looked around to learn more... As localstorage can't be maximized, is it possible to change the storage part to IndexedDB as it should handle and can save a lot more data?
My coding skills is not that great in that area, so the small things I tried just broke tagify altogether.
But I'll keep on trying different solutions, to see if something works, but this is a step in the right direction, and for 4 years this is almost what I have tried to get to work, and this is the closet it has been, so again thanks for the hard work :D

You've officially become the stress-test champion for Tagify 🏆
You're correct, migrating to IndexedDB would fix the problem. That would involve a complete restructuring of the architecture of how Tagify stores data. This could be something that I implement in the future.
A shorter-term solution would be to optimize how tag data is stored in localStorage... I could probably optimize this to allow for 50-100% more tagged tracks before storage is completely full.
Thanks for pushing Tagify to its limits and providing this feedback. This helps me identify exactly where the system needs to evolve.
There are currently a few other features that are at the top of the priority list, but I will keep this in mind as an important improvement. I'll keep you posted on the progress!

Thanks again, I think that way it will be more future proof, and easier on Spotify in the long on.
But no stress about it, I have reverted back to star-ratings at the moment, and then just using tagify for the stuff that star-ratings doesn't recognise anymore, that will keep me from hitting the wall so far.
At least now you know the limitations, and I'm ready to test out every new feature when it arrives.

Thank you for being an early supporter - your enthusiasm and detailed feedback have been very useful for me.
I don't want you to have to work around limitations when you're clearly one of Tagify's power users. So this problem is pushed to the high-priority list. -> Updated Roadmap!
