🛠️ Local Development Setup

Prerequisites

Node.js 18 or higher
MongoDB (local or Atlas)
Git

Step 1 — Clone & Install

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/apnaworker.git
cd apnaworker

# Install backend dependencies
cd backend
npm install

Step 2 — Configure Environment

# Copy example env file
cp .env.example .env

# Edit .env with your values
nano .env   # or use VS Code / any editor

Minimum required variables for local dev:

MONGODB_URI=mongodb://localhost:27017/apnaworker
JWT_SECRET=any_long_random_string_here
PORT=5000

Step 3 — Start the Server

# Development (auto-restart on changes)
npm run dev

# Production
npm start

Step 4 — Open the App

Frontend: http://localhost:5000
API:      http://localhost:5000/api/health
Admin:    http://localhost:5000/admin.html

The database will be auto-seeded on first run with:

Admin user: admin@apnaworker.com / admin123
Default categories (Electrician, Plumber, etc.)
Default cities
Welcome coupon: WELCOME20 (20% off)

☁️ Deployment Guide

Option A: Deploy to Render (FREE — Recommended)

Push to GitHub

git init
git add .
git commit -m "Initial commit"
git remote add origin https://github.com/yourusername/apnaworker.git
git push -u origin main

Create MongoDB Atlas database
- Go to mongodb.com/cloud/atlas
- Create free cluster → Get connection string
- Whitelist IP: 0.0.0.0/0 (allow all)
Deploy on Render
- Go to render.com → New Web Service
- Connect your GitHub repo
- Set settings:

Root Directory:   (leave blank)
Build Command:    cd backend && npm install
Start Command:    cd backend && node server.js
```
- Add environment variables (from your .env)
Done! Your app is live at https://apnaworker.onrender.com

Option B: Deploy to Railway

Go to railway.app
New Project → Deploy from GitHub
Add MongoDB plugin OR use Atlas URI
Set environment variables in Railway dashboard
Railway auto-detects Procfile → deploys automatically

Option C: Deploy to VPS (DigitalOcean/AWS/Hetzner)
