[Bug] Unusually high GPU usage in Winboat

Your Environment

Kubuntu 26.04 (also 25.10) on Framework 16, AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU + iGPU (Radeon 780M)

Steps to Reproduce / Context

1. Install winboat using the provided deb file
2. Run it
3. Fans start to whir really loudly, GPU usage spikes by ~50%

You do not need to be running any Windows program, just having Winboat open is sufficient to cause the GPU usage spike

Triage: Cannot Reproduce on Arch - Requesting More Info

Tested WinBoat v0.9.0 on:

• OS: Arch Linux, kernel 7.0.9-arch2-1

• Install method: using yay through AUR

• Result: Launched WinBoat, stayed idle with no Windows apps. GPU usage normal ~2-5%. No fan spin-up or ~50% spike observed.

• CPU/GPU: Core I7-12700, RTX 3080 10GB

• Note: My hardware/software stack differs from yours (Arch vs Kubuntu 25.10/26.04, different Mesa/kernel). This may be specific to Ubuntu + Framework 16 + 7840HS/780M.

Could you help narrow this down:

1. Run radeontop or nvtop with WinBoat open — which process shows high GPU?
2. Are you on Wayland or X11? Kubuntu 25.10 defaults to Wayland
3. Does the AppImage build have the same issue?

This helps determine if it's a .deb packaging, Wayland, or Mesa issue on Ubuntu.

Tagging as needs-repro and hardware-specific for now. If others with Framework 16 + Ubuntu can confirm, we should escalate.

3. Try with Appimage: Happens here as well. The pattern of GPU usage when running radeontop is similar

I tested on another setup:
Kubuntu 26.04, running a Radeon RX6800 GPU.

I see an unusually high spike in GPU usage with winboat open, though it's ~10% GPU usage instead of ~50%. The difference in usage % is likely due to difference in GPU power (dedicated GPU vs. iGPU).

This seems to suggest that the GPU spike is not hardware specific (though if anyone else can help to confirm, that will also be helpful), but that it seems to be conserved in Kubuntu and/or Ubuntu systems
