Transforming the data through the CDF and plotting a QQ plot can hide outliers/odd tail behaviour. It would be good to includes "tnormal" too, i.e. https://github.com/mfasiolo/mgcViz/blob/30767dc828ecda2ab9a422a5505dfb29a9ad52f5/R/I_compute_qq_gam.R#L104. This should be fairly straightforward.
