Compilation med

Why does the compilation of med require SALOME_BOOTSTRAP? Is there a simple procedure for compiling MED with minimal dependencies?

I believe you're referring to MEDFile ?

If you're looking for med (med file), have a look at this page link.

To compile MEDFile, I recommend following the instructions provided in these build scripts: med-6.0.1.sh or
med-6.0.1.bat.

You can find scripts for other versions in the same directory, here.

PS: I agree that the repository name is a bit misleading. It is currently named "MED" due to historical reasons. As described in the "About" GitHub section, it is FIELDS (SALOME FIELDS module provides MEDCOUPLING library as well as a GUI to access some usual operations on fields.)
