Year filter closes when navigating into it with screen reader on, on mac

Describe the bug

When I navigate to the year filter on the startpage while the Mac screenreader is on, the year filter closes when I try to navigate to it.

Steps to reproduce

1. On Mac, activate screenreader
2. Using the keyboard, navigate to the year filter
3. Try to use the arrowkeys to navigate into the choices
