attempting to use Matrix server causes black screen

Describe the bug

Whenever I try to use a Matrix homeserver, I get a black screen instead of the sign-in page.

Reproduction

1. Go to client.pony.house
2. type in a Matrix homeserver in the homeserver search bar (eg. matrix.org)
3. Wait for the client to find the homeserver

Expected behavior

I expected Pony.house to go to the sign-in page after putting in a Matrix homeserver

i’ve analyzed the matrix.org and it’s really happening.
happens with other homeservers too?
