Code of Conduct

OpenMapX is an open community. We want participation in the project — issues, discussions, pull requests, community integrations and services, and any chat channels — to be a respectful and harassment-free experience for everyone.

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 3.0.

Our pledge

We pledge to make participation in our community a welcoming, safe, and equitable experience for all, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socioeconomic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act in ways that contribute to an open, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.

Encouraged behavior

  • Respecting the purpose of our community, its activities, and the people in it.
  • Engaging with others kindly and honestly.
  • Respecting different viewpoints and experiences, especially on technical direction — disagreement is welcome; contempt is not.
  • Taking responsibility for our actions and their impact, and offering a sincere apology when we get it wrong.
  • Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback.
  • Focusing on what is best for the community as a whole.

Unacceptable behavior

  • Harassment of any kind, public or private, including deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Personal or character attacks, insults, trolling, or derogatory comments; stereotyping or discriminatory jokes and language.
  • Sexualized language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
  • Publishing others' private information — physical or email address, for example — without their explicit permission ("doxxing").
  • Sustained disruption of discussions, reviews, or other community spaces.
  • Other conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.

Reporting

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it confidentially to the maintainers at conduct@openmapx.org.

Reports are handled discreetly. In your report, please include — to the extent you are comfortable — what happened, where and when, who was involved, any links or screenshots, and whether the situation is ongoing. You do not need to have all of this to file a report.

The maintainers are obligated to respect the privacy and security of anyone who reports an incident. Do not use public issues, and do not use the security advisory channel (that is for software vulnerabilities only).

Enforcement responsibilities

Maintainers are responsible for clarifying and enforcing these standards and will take fair, appropriate, and proportional corrective action in response to any behavior they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.

Enforcement guidelines

Maintainers will follow these guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:

  1. Warning — a private, written warning, providing clarity around the nature of the violation and an explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.
  2. Temporarily limited activities — a request to refrain from certain interactions (for example, a particular discussion or area of the project) for a specified period. Violating these terms may lead to a suspension or a permanent ban.
  3. Temporary suspension — a temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period. No public or private interaction with the people involved is allowed during this period. Violating these terms may lead to a permanent ban.
  4. Permanent ban — a permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community, for demonstrating a pattern of violation, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of groups of people.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces — the repository, issues, pull requests, discussions, and any official chat or social channels — and also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces.
