I use fire TV 4k gen 1 for all the testing and it's working perfectly fine. Could it be due to low storage on the device? Android performance takes a hit if there is low storage.

Works fine on Firestick 4k Gen 1, please remove unused items to increase storage for Android OS so it does not impact performance.

While you have a firestick, I've been using moonfin great on my weaker sticks. Now its unusable due to this performance, way worse than vanilla jellyfin. Started sometime after 1.5.0

Moonfin cannot perpetually support aged tech, especially with all of the feature requests we receive. If performance has degraded that much, I'd recommend either downgrading back to a previous version of Moonfin and turning off auto-updates or upgrade your set-up.

Rendering a menu item and navigating to the one below it(such as in the settings) should not lag regardless

Are you still on 2.0 or have you updated to 2.1.0? There was a substantial performance increase across all platforms in 2.1.0, also Android tends to slow down if it's low on storage.

Actually when apps get updated that is exactly when aging tech becomes a problem, lol. But OK. As @RadicalMuffinMan said, 2.1.0 has extremely speedy menus and featured a lot of UI optimizations, so if it is lagging, it is probably a storage issue.

@mattsigal With respect, I understand that older hardware has limitations, but lag when simply moving from one menu item to another really shouldn't happen.

This was indeed fixed in 2.1.0 for the general menus, but not for the player menu that still has a significant delay, see video below.

I don't do dart, I use react, go, php, python, etc for my day job. I am genuinely asking, what specifically became so complex that moving between one element of the menu to another has a delay? What is happening between my button press and the actual changing of the items?

I’m happy to look into dart, look into this issue myself and open a PR if needed, but my main point is that this specific interaction should not be lagging

This is on a mi box s, 4 cores 2.5Ghz, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage(3GB free right now). It's stronger than what's in my TV. The issue only happens in Moonfin. I don’t see this kind of lag in Kodi, Plex, or the vanilla Jellyfin app.

I would understand if there would be an issue with some feature, but I am not doing anything special here. I have mostly everything turned off, and I am simply playing a live TV self hosted channel and using the player menu.

At the end you can see the video stream is playing fine, so it can handle the workload of the video but not of removing an effect from a menu item and moving it to another with the little animation

It's not a delay, it was a navigation bug that needed a second button press once it reached the middle button, which only affected the live TV OSD and has since been fixed and is slated to go out with the new update once the testers are done. Was this the only performance or UI related bug you had?

2.1.0 fixed the menu issues I was having before where switching in settings, going up/down the libraries, etc had literal lag as in low FPS type of lag. Only thing remaining is the OSD issue

However there actually is delay. At the very beginning of the video where it moves from left button to the middle button it takes 1 beat of a 60sec metronome(measured just now with another button press to see if I'm just imagining it), so about 1 second after I press the button for the animation to actually move to the other. The buttons in the general menu(i.e browsing the library, settings, etc) move as soon as I press on the remote
