Steps to reproduce

This is with a movie that the Android TV (and Linux computer) can direct play. Happens on Android 14 (Phones) and Desktop, the symptoms are different but the same issue.

To fully reproduce, load a movie. Remember to have the local trailers plugin installed on your server https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-plugin-intros
You can obtain any random pre roll video from this URL if needed for testing purposes.

The expected outcome is that you should see, after seeing the trailer, your expected movie.
The Local pre-rolls plugin worked by requesting one video after another if I remember correctly.

on Android TV, the app becomes unresponsive to any input and must be exited. Like a soft-crash.

On Android Phone and Linux (on Firefox 151.0.3), the web app hangs and becomes unresponsive, requiring a refresh. (app crash).

There are no logs server-side, because the app never requests the movie from the server! It requests the trailer, plays it, but never requests the next content.
It simply hangs after playing the trailer.

Just off the bat -pre-rolls (called "Cinema Mode" in Moonfin) are already supported and generally work in terms of playback. However, some safe guards have been implemented for the next core release (see PR-371). Specifically:

• All of the toggles on the automations page were set server wide instead of user based. That's been fixed.
• If a user has cinema mode on but cannot access a pre-roll for whatever reason, it is now caught and Moonfin will go into the movie playback without throwing a fit.

The second point is related to your observation. Every case I've seen so far, the issue actually stems from your settings in Jellyfin's admin panel. Specifically the ones in the attached photos under Users/Library Access. If a user doesn't have access to all libraries or is restricted in some way, then they won't be able to use Cinema Mode because their account literally cannot access the file. But that's a server side restriction and outside Moonfin's control. Check these settings and make sure each account that uses Cinema Mode has access to the pre-rolls library:

Hey! you are right, I've skimmed through that PR and I think it should fix this issue.

For clarification, this is not about cinema mode plugin (Which I think you are referring to this one). It's about Local Intros, which is a much ""simpler"" implementation.

All users have access to these pre-rolls, as it works as expected on the normal Jellyfin client (on android tv) and normal web app (on linux/android)

Edit: Sorry I'm dumber today. You were referring that Moonfin actually has a in-house cinema mode, just found it on the settings page. I should read more about how it works :)

No, I'm talking about Local Intros (I use this too). In Moonfin's settings menu, we just refer to it as Cinema Mode:

But it just interacts with Local Intros to handle the pre-roll playback. I'm not actually sure if we support that Cinema Mode plugin, haha...
