Cannot confirm actions when using SAML for authentication

On semantic-kompakkt.de, we allow users to authenticate using NFDI4Culture SAML SSO. This works for login, but when users want to take action which requires re-auth, like deleting objects, clicking the SSO option will just close the current action and redirect users to the landing page.

We need to figure out a way of applying an action after a user has re-auth'd with SSO.
