In the OKF definition, I observe there is a timestamp field: timestamp — ISO 8601 datetime of last meaningful change.
One might consider several dimensions to be relevant and/or required to define the space wherein a concept/fact is valid, and we would need to define different types of boundaries in each dimension.
For example, a regulatory decision may be valid for a "period of 12 months" from "the time it was published", and applicable to certain "categories of subjects or activities" within a specific "geographic area" (e.g. a country).
Searching for valid definitions in an efficient manner often requires the use of spatio-temporal fields. In some cases, they can be defined as fixed values (e.g. timestamp, geographic coordinates), other times we need ranges (e.g. polygon in projected 2D space).
