animated jxl appears to not be supported, only first frame is shown

I doubt there is any Windows viewer that supports animation.

Animation support is unlikely in the JXL decoder lib being used here: awxkee/jxl-coder-glide#1

i do not have a windows machine to test a viewer, on linux gwenview displays it nicely

Xnview can play jxl animations, at least with the samples above. Maybe is this post too late ...

Supposedly, ReFra gallery has added support for this: IacobIonut01/ReFra@84fc0c9
And the commit references Awxkee's decoder, so maybe it's currently possible.
