@pol-rivero If you think this is a good direction for this fork, I’d love to take a shot at it. It would definitely add a lot of value for larger teams.

Also do you know if upstream (desktop/desktop) has already implemented or discussed this? I searched and didn't see anything. If not, let me know if I should go ahead.

I'm not sure about the UX side of this.
@olemr2 are you proposing searching by the committer name directly? Wouldn't that return tons of results?

Probably. A cap at 2-3 weeks would cover most use-cases I can think of where we have missed it.
Second thought. Merge commits are most interesting. Those would be fewer?

Sorry, but I don't think adding arbitrary N-week caps would be a good idea.

Scrolling through the History unfiltered already produces 'tons of results', so I fail to see the concern?

@pol-rivero I think he wants the history search to be like this screenshot taken from github swebsite issues tab. It doesn't have to be exactly like how it is in github website, but you will get the idea. Correct me if I am wrong @olemr2.

Well the history tab already shows all of the results, so filtering by an author will definitely get less results if not same as before. So, it could be implemented and I think upstream(desktop/desktop) is not going to have this anytime soon.

Just to make it easier to track down what an author has been up to lately.

Okay, I see. Then, I assume syntax would be:

author:some.email@my-org.com Some text query

I'd filter by email, since the name can contain spaces.
Does that sound right?
