We want to label the brightness temperature per echelle order to get a coarse sense of characteristic depth probed.

Here is a low resolution figure showing brightness temperature for cloudy model t1300g1000f2_m0.0_co1.0.spec. The IGRINS echelle order boundaries are labeled with their silicon immersion grating diffractive order number m.

Question: How to make plots that show both low resolution and high resolution, respecting the huge dynamic range?

(an) Answer: We could show a plot like this and then simply label our other plots with this unique m index. We can also label certain species on this plot, since @astrocaroline points out that

~whole orders are just water, and you can label them as such. And then some orders will be a mix of methane and water, and CO and water

Bonus: The m number can be thought of as how many wavelengths fit within a single diffraction grating grove: you can fit 125 short wavelengths or 71 long wavelengths.
